Gesteldheid van de oppervlakte

Ferritische legering koude afgewerkte stalen buizen moeten schalen en geschikt zijn voor inspectie. Een kleine hoeveelheid oxidatie die niet als schaal wordt beschouwd.
Ferritische lichtmetalen heet afgewerkte stalen buizen moeten vrij zijn van losse schaal en geschikt voor inspectie.

Roestvrijstalen buizen worden vrij van schaal ingelegeerd. Wanneer heldere gloeien wordt gebruikt, is beitsen niet nodig. Elke speciale afwerkingsvereiste is onderworpen aan overeenstemming tussen de leverancier en de koper.
